The
Laser is another Olympic class boat. This single-handed boat is a very
popular boat worldwide and in the Midwest. It is very simple to rig
and sail, and yet has great speed potential. It is small and lightweight,
only 130 lbs., approximately 14 ft. long and is car-topable. It is easily
managed by one person and is an especially excellent boat for women.
Lake Opeka sailors are well represented in District 20 laser activities.
Every weekend from Mothers Day to Halloween there is a published Laser
regatta in District 20 that will draw from 10 to 35 boats. A great deal
