The
Rebel is a 16 ft sailboat. A Rebel has two sails, a main and a jib,
and is usually raced by two people. It is one of the most stable, spacious
and thus comfortable of the boats sailed on Lake Opeka. Many of our
Rebel sailors are husband and wife teams. Some boats are sailed by a
family. Several reasonably priced used boats are typically for sale
at Lake Opeka. It makes a great family boat. Our races draw a lot of
participation from our large fleet located at Lake Opeka. Des Plaines Fleet 23 is active in the National
Rebel Class Association, with members regularly attending other
fleets’ invitational regattas and the annual National Championship
regatta each July.
